Carnival Cruise Splendor

I just got back today from my 7 day cruise. I gained 10 lbs exactly. I'm thinking I should start with a gym membership at work. Make some of this body fat into muscle. =)

update: I made a big poop. Lost 2 lbs. 20% already lost!

Cooking with mom

I don't know if you guys experience this, but when I'm cooking in my mom's kitchen she has to feel like she's making to meal too. Like I have a recipe I want to follow, but she always thinks the recipe's wrong. Why?

Well, first off she's fast cook, meaning shortcuts! She also has what I call limited experience in cooking. Now cooking with her when she's trying to meddle with the recipe can be tricky. I have to figure out if the advice she's giving me is a shortcut or experience. Chances are it's a shortcut and will ruin the recipe.

I am also suspecting that she might be trying to sabotage the recipe. My food's tastier, though not as healthy as her cooking. So the next coming dishes, I need to limit her sabotaging influence.

----

So far the bad advice that's come out of her mouth.

1. It looks like it's done. You should take it out now. (Don't! She does't know what you're making.)

2. Put the parsley in now, it'll smell better. (Don't! Parley will overcook and end up losing it's flavor.)

3. Turn the oven lower, the oven is stronger than your typical oven. (no mom, you just don't grease the pan properly. That's why your food is charred.)

4. Old classic: You didn't add enough flour, now your pancakes are all flat. My reply: Mom, I'm making crepes, not pancakes!

Career aimless

So it's pretty solid that my career is heading down Construction Management. I'm already a Construction Engineer and sort of acting as a Construction Manager. But I'm a little unmotivated. I've finished my Construction Management course and plumbing design at ucla extension. I've got my EIT and LEED certificates. So what's the next step?

I was told get my CCM or AACE, but I don't know where to start. They don't write books or study guides. I see $1000 course offered if I registered for the exams, but I think I can do it cheaper. It's so hard to do things on your own when no one I know is following the same flow.

So what is the next step?

I'm giving it Star Trek 5 stars! Top notch movie for Trekkie fans. Why? Well I don't want to spoil any details, so go watch it for yourself.
